Moving Legacy Data
The Inter-American Development Bank asked Looi Consulting to evaluate a legacy data architecture and make recommendations to produce interactive visualizations and reports on the fly. Rather than redesign the existing data tables and workflows, we proposed to design and develop a solution to migrate existing data without affecting the stable data curation processes or existing tables.
Enterprise Search
A major supplier of a multi-tenant, enterprise SaaS system had built an Enterprise Search system by combining the output of a file system produced by Microsoft Indexing Service and results from a SQL Server relational DBMS. This hybrid approach was adequate in the beginning, but as the SaaS system grew with more tenants and as each tenant increased its data under storage, the Enterprise Search solution failed to scale up.

Scams: The Resume
Even if the contractor is incapable of performing the job, it may take months to discover this…. During that time, the agency or contractor books billable time for no useful work. Once discovered, of course the contractor can be discharged promptly (though usually subject to an additional notice period) but the company is back where it started, now saddled with the loss of both money and time.
Scams: Front Running
Without a job seeker’s permission, the front runner approaches a company with the candidate’s resume or perhaps with the fabricated one.
Not knowing of the company’s interest, the front runner simultaneously contacts the job seeker purporting to have an exclusive job opportunity. They will sometimes claim they are the only agency the company works with. The front runner attempts to get the candidate to agree to be represented by it.
Next it claims to the hiring company that it is the representative of the candidate.
